Hot spring

Kaneyama is a wonderland of hot springs known only to true hot spring aficionados.

A wonderland of hot springs, Kaneyama boasts no less than seven different hot spring sources.
Here you can enjoy a wide variety of hot spring waters, including those said to help with nerve pain (neuralgia) and cold sensitivity, bubbly hot springs, and hot springs known only to a select few.
These hot springs are also the perfect finale to a day spent enjoying the beautiful natural scenery of the surrounding region, such as the former village of Mugenkyo on the Tadami River.

Takizawa Hot Spring - Matsu-no-Yu

This hot spring is the first you will encounter when entering Kaneyama from the direction of Tadami. The source of this hot spring flows abundantly from a well behind the bath house. Enjoy the ultimate luxury of bathing in refined hot spring waters direct from the source.

Ōshio Public Hot Spring

(Closest inn: Kominka Guesthouse Kakujou)
The lower temperature of the waters here are ideal for spending a longer amount of time in the bath. This hot spring is also well known for the beautifying properties of the water.

    7:30 AM to 9:00 PM during summer (April through October)
    8:30 AM to 8:00 PM during winter (November through March)
  • Fee per person: 300 Yen and up
  • Access: 10 min. walk from Aizu-Ōshio Station on the JR Tadami Line

Yugura Public Hot Spring

(Closest inn: Tsurukameso Inn)
The waters at this hot spring are somewhat hotter than normal. Rather than adding cold water to lower the temperature, it is recommended to churn the water instead.

  • Business hours: 7:00 AM to 8:00 PM
  • Fee per person: 300 Yen and up
  • Access: 30 min. walk from Honna Station on the JR Tadami Line

Nakagawa Hot Spring
(Fukushi Center YuuYuu-Kan)

This hot spring is located in the YuuYuu-Kan building just 3 minutes walk from Aizu-Nakagawa Station on the JR Tadami Line. The clear green waters are valued for making your skin silky smooth.

  • Business hours: 11:00 AM to 8:00 PM on weekdays and Saturdays
    12:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Sundays
  • Fee per person: 300 Yen
  • Access: 3 min. walk from Aizu-Nakagawa Station on the JR Tadami Line

Hachimachi Hot Spring Public Bath - Kame-no-Yu

This hot spring inn is located along the clear Nojiri river as it winds through the mountains. The waters are loved by the locals who claim it works wonders on hangovers.

  • Fee per person: 200 Yen
  • Access: Aizu-Kawaguchi Station on the JR Tadami Line. From the station, take the Aizu Bus servicing the Oouchi - Kawaguchi Shako route and get off at the Tamanashi Hachimachi Onsen bus stop, then walk 1 min.

Tamanashi Hot Spring Public Bath

(Closest inn: Tamanashi Hot Spring Ebi-ya Inn)
Though the water here seems a bit too hot at first, it will grow more comfortable the longer you sit, and ultimately warm you up so well that you won’t stop sweating for some time after getting out.

  • Business hours: 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM
  • Fee per person: Adults 200 Yen, elementary school children and younger 100 Yen
  • Aizu-Kawaguchi Station on the JR Tadami Line. From the station, take the Aizu Bus servicing the Oouchi - Kawaguchi Shako route and get off at the Tamanashi Hachimachi Onsen bus stop, then walk 5 min.

Seseragiso Natural Sparkling Hot Spring, Kaneyama Hot Spring Wellness Facility

Enjoy refined hot spring water direct from both the Tamanashi and Daikoku-yu hot springs, the latter being naturally carbonated.

Both the Ōishio Public Hot Spring and the Ōisho Carbonated Bath are located nearby. Enjoy the slow-life atmosphere in this traditional Japanese home built over 200 years ago.
